Flooding in Fr. McCullen Park
Once again, the residents of Fr. McCullen Park in Kells were washed out!
At the weekend, as the heavens opened, sandbags were needed to protect some of the residents homes from water damage. Thankfully the waters receeded and people could go about their business with out fear of the torrents returning.
The big question is why does the council let this happen year after year? They know that the water drains dont have the capacity to deal with heavier than usual downpours?
Despite having two labour councillors within spitting distance, one I may add being a resident, nothing seems to have been done in the past 5 years.

Hey Guys,
I’ll keep this section short. Ive just finished University where I studied Physical Education and Chemistry teaching. At present, I am working for Senator Maria Corrigan (www.mariacorrigan.com) in her office in Leinster House. I hope to go teaching as soon as I can find a school smart enough to employ me 
Ive been a member of Fianna Fáil (www.fiannafail.ie) for the past 11 years. I am involved in Ógra Fianna Fáil (www.ogra.ie) where I server as Cathaoirleach of Meath West Ógra. I am the North Leinster rep on the National Youth Committee of the party too. Also, I am Rúnaí of North Meath Fianna Fáil.
My philosophy:
I am a Republican.
I believe in the Republican system where people are free to live their lives free from oppression and where equality is paramount. I beleive in the unification of the island of Ireland and her peoples. It is not the end goal but only the start of something great.
I try and dont get involved with Left / Right politics, as it invariably only aides the marginalisation of certain sectors of society. We must all work together to build a better Kells and a better Ireland.

You have 2 Fianna Fail TDs serving Kells (Johnny Brady & Noel Dempsey). The big question is why haven’t they done something about it? What are they dong in Dail Eireann at all if they cannot do something about this.

Funding is received by the local authorities from Central Government. This funding is then allocated as per the wishes of the local authority members.
This is the basic idea behind having locally elected representatives.
Over the past years, we have seen the great work being done by Deputy Brady in relation to Kells – Securing over €6 million in funding specially for the Headfort Grove Redevelopment scheme.
Donnacha is right. The Local councillors are given the money. They decide how it is spent
So if Johnny Brady & Noel Dempsey are powerless to do anything about this, why would we vote for them at all?
this is their own constituency after all
Johnny and Noel are not powerless. They are elected to Dáil Eireann to legislate and to fund local authorities
In 2004, the people of Kells elected 9 Councillors – 5 Non FF (who currently control the council) and 4 FF. These councillors and Kells TC receive funding from central government – as a decision of the government.
It is the councillors who decide how this money is spent.
Can Johnny not put pressure on the council to act?
Has he written to them outlining the problem with the flooding
A letter is being sent it and representations were sent in some years ago.
I am sending in a letter too to the council regarding this issue as well
